Deus Customs, BMW R nine T – “The Heinrich Maneuver”

This video features the BMW R nineT named ‘The Heinrich Maneuver‘ – built by Deus Customs, in collaboration with BMW Motorrad Australia.

Named Heinrich by way of an ode to the metalworking maestro, Karl Heinrich of Hoske and Heinrich. Those of you familiar will know that the pair were famed for fabricating custom touring fuel tanks for airheads between the sixties and eighties.

Hoske & Henrich’s designs for the BMWs of yesteryear were characterised by their somewhat bulbous and unconventionally beautiful nature. The result, a fuel tank with an enlarged capacity ranging from 8 – 10 gallons (32 to 45 litres).

Deus’ hommage was built by Jeremy Tagand and features a similar handcrafted, alloy tank with custom tank badges. Alloy parts that were removed from the stock bike were then melted and recast to make those custom roundels.

“The bike is already a modern classic, therefore, the challenge of transforming it was intriguing”.

Additional neat features include a suede-cover seat and lined cover of the same material (on top of the fuel tank) which conceals a slot for the ignition key.

Reconfigured custom headers give a two-into-one-into-two setup, with end-cans by Cone Engineering. The team also replaced the standard airbox in favour of K&N filters. All of that coupled with a Power Commander unit means the R nineT now makes an additional 6bhp at the rear.

Finally, the Motogadget Motoscope Pro dash adds a touch of contemporary to this neo-classic roadster.
